You will find images of American Oak Mantels below. With an American Oak Mantel you will find a very even grain in the timber as opposed to an Irish Oak Mantel which contains checks, markings and flecks which give it a more rustic Irish look.

American Oak is a pressure treated timber and the mantel should be able to withstand the high level of heat emitted from the stove without altering greatly as can happen with other timbers as they acclimatise to the heat indoors.

American Oak is an imported timber and comes in 7” width x 3/3.5cm depth by length required.
To advise you a regular mantel size (and most commonly ordered size) is 54” or 4.5ft but of course they can be made to your desired length.
